The Department of English at the College of Education hosted a distinguished academic seminar titled "Recent Translations of Iraqi Plays: Contemporary Plays from Iraq."
The seminar was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Maher Abdul Hamid. The sessions highlighted a unique initiative of its kind, represented by showcasing the recent published books and Iraqi literary works and plays translated to English language, and the extent of their significance important in bringing the Iraqi literary voice and contemporary theater to global academic and cultural forums.
During the seminar, the speaker provided an analytical reading of the translated content, outlining the key challenges and methodologies employed in conveying Iraqi theatrical texts—with all their cultural and social dimensions—to a foreign reader. He emphasized the vital role of translation as a bridge that carries local literature toward broader global horizons.
