The Academic Deputy of Al-Ayen University, Prof. Dr. Naseer Ali Hussein, inaugurated the workshop "Strengthening Institutional Capacities for Implementing the Erasmus Program," hosted by the university in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research – Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations – Section of International and Arab Organizations. This workshop is part of the European Union's programs in Iraq and will continue from September 28 to 30, 2026.
Prof. Dr. Hussein welcomed the participants, emphasizing the importance of hosting this event by the university, which targets directors of scholarship and cultural relations departments and Erasmus unit heads at universities in the southern region.
For his part, Dr. Muwaffaq Sajit Samir, Director of the International and Arab Organizations Department at the Department of Scholarship and Cultural Relations, presented the workshop's themes and training content. Asma Al-Samadi, Projects Manager at the Erasmus+ National Office in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the course instructor, also participated, discussing the application process for Erasmus programs and how to benefit from them.
The workshop provided a specialized training platform to introduce Erasmus programs and enhance the capabilities of participating universities in engaging with opportunities for international academic collaboration.
