The international training program for students from Al-Ayen Iraqi University, held in the Arab Republic of Egypt from July 18 to 24, 2026, concluded as part of the academic cooperation agreement between the two institutions.
The President of Mansoura University, Prof. Dr. Sherif Khater received the delegation from Al-Ayen Iraqi University in the presence of the Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Attia Al-Bayoumi and a number of officials from both universities during an introductory meeting were held to mark the launch of the joint international summer training program. The meeting emphasized the importance of the academic partnership between the two universities in strengthening scientific and research cooperation and developing students' skills. It concluded with an exchange of commemorative plaques and a group photo, marking the start of the program's activities.
The delegation comprised 40 students from the Colleges of Medicine, Pharmacy, and Dentistry. It was headed by Prof. Dr. Adnan Al-Taan, the Dean of the College of Medicine at Al-Ayen Iraqi University, and Asst. Lecturer Abdul Rahman Al-Batat, the program director. The delegation also included Prof. Dr. Raed Fanoukh Abu Al-Khader, Deputy Dean of the College of Medicine for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hisham Abu Al-Ala Head of the Department of Pharmacology at the College of Medicine, and Prof. Dr. Karima Abu Al-Futouh, a faculty member at the College of Pharmacy.
During the program, the students visited the Kidney and Urology Transplant Center, touring its research and medical facilities. They also attended scientific lectures on the role of research in advancing medical practice. They met with Prof. Mohamed Ghoneim, the center's founder and a leading figure in the field in the Middle East. His academic career was reviewed, and he stressed the importance of scientific research in producing outstanding physicians. The day's activities concluded with medical, dental, and pharmacy students continuing their specialized training in laboratories and educational units under the supervision of Mansoura University professors.
As part of the international training program, the delegation met with the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Mansoura University, Prof. Dr. Ashraf Mamdouh Shoma, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Mohamed Al-Fahhar, Deputy Dean for Education and Student Affairs, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Samah Mohamed Sabri, Head of International Students, to discuss ways to enhance academic cooperation between the two institutions. The meeting included discussions on the terms of a cooperation agreement intended to be signed between the two faculties of medicine, which aims to support the development of academic and training programs, promote the exchange of expertise to benefit students, and solidify the scientific partnership between the two universities.
During the program, the delegation toured the university campus, visiting the faculties, educational, research, and service facilities, and learning about the program's objectives and the university's academic and research capabilities. The Dean of the College of Medicine at Al-Ayen Iraqi University, Prof. Dr. Al-Taan affirmed that the program represents a significant milestone in strengthening Arab academic cooperation. It provides students with an opportunity to learn about advanced educational and training experiences, contributing to the development of their scientific and practical skills.
The program's activities also included visits to the deans of the College of Dentistry and the College of Pharmacy at Mansoura University. The Al-Ayen University delegation explored the educational and training facilities at both colleges and discussed with their deans ways to enhance academic cooperation and exchange expertise, thereby contributing to the development of educational programs and raising the level of students' practical training.
As part of the training program, the delegation and students visited the Oncology Center at Mansoura University. They toured its various departments, learned about its equipment, and were briefed on the diagnostic and treatment services it provides to patients. The visit also included the Cardiology Center, where they learned about its medical capabilities and operational mechanisms. This allowed the students to gain insight into the latest practices and specialized healthcare services offered at university medical centers.
The students participating in the program affirmed that such programs significantly enhanced their scientific and practical skills, complementing the knowledge and training acquired during their various stages of study at the laboratories of Al-Ayen Iraqi University.
The Chancellor of Al-Ayen Iraqi University, Prof. Dr. Haider Abdul-Amir Marhoon expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the efforts of the head of the delegation and its members. He also extended his sincere thanks to all the gentlemen and women in the Arab Republic of Egypt, especially the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Sherif Khater, and Dr. El-Bayoumi, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs, for their warm welcome, hospitality, and support of the delegation members and students participating in the program.
He emphasized that the international training program, along with other academic agreements, the Master's program, and the scientific competitions the university has achieved, reflects the vision that has been established and implemented.
