The University Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Health and Medical Technologies held an awareness workshop entitled "Honoring Parents: Peace of Mind and Spiritual Contentment." The workshop was presented by Asst. Lecturer Rasha Talal from the Optometry Technology Department, as part of the unit's ongoing activities aimed at promoting noble human and spiritual values among students and staff alike. This initiative stems from the unit's belief in the necessity of simultaneously developing students' skills and moral character.
The workshop addressed the psychological and emotional dimensions of honoring parents, highlighting the profound positive impact of showing kindness to them on an individual's mental well-being, inner peace, and spiritual tranquility. It also explored how this virtuous behavior contributes to self-discipline and increased self-satisfaction, which positively impacts the student's psychological balance and their interaction with their university and social environment.
The workshop also focused on the role of family values in protecting the individual against life's pressures, stressing that honoring parents is not just a religious and social duty, but a fundamental pillar for achieving success and prosperity in practical and social life. The session included interactive discussions on how to promote dialogue and kindness in dealing with parents and to appreciate their sacrifices as an integral part of human loyalty.
