The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Health and Medical Technologies, Al-Ayen Iraqi University, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center at the university's presidency, held a specialized workshop entitled "Drugs Abuse and Addiction and the Role of Academic Institutions in Meditating It." The workshop was presented by Asst. Lecturer Abdul Rahman Abbas Al-Batat, Director of the Continuing Education Center, as part of the college's social and ethical responsibility towards its students and the community.
The workshop primarily aimed to highlight the serious social and health risks of addiction. Presentations addressed the devastating physiological and psychological effects of drugs on the nervous system and overall health, as well as the economic and social damage that threatens family cohesion and the fabric of society. The workshop emphasized the need for institutional collaboration to confront these insidious problems.
The workshop addressed the pivotal role that academic institutions play in reducing the spread of this phenomenon, through activating continuous awareness programs and integrating prevention concepts into student activities, as well as providing psychological and guidance support and providing a safe and stimulating educational environment that helps young people invest their energies positively away from deviant behaviors, while emphasizing the importance of early detection and close cooperation between the university and the competent health and security authorities.
