The College of Engineering, in collaboration with the Continuing Education Center, held an awareness workshop entitled “Diabetes Awareness and Prevention Methods,” presented by Dr. Basim Ali Kreidi. This workshop was part of the college’s commitment to developing health awareness and enhancing medical literacy among students.
The workshop included a comprehensive overview of diabetes, highlighting its nature as one of the most prevalent chronic diseases. It explained the differences between its various types and outlined the most significant risk factors, particularly those related to daily lifestyle.
The workshop also addressed the importance of early detection, emphasizing the role of regular checkups in reducing complications. Furthermore, it presented several health guidelines for prevention, such as regulating meals, avoiding unhealthy behaviors, and increasing physical activity.
This workshop aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), which focuses on promoting preventative health practices and reducing the prevalence of chronic diseases through ongoing education and awareness.
This workshop is part of a series of scientific activities that the College of Engineering at Al-Ayen Iraqi University is keen to organize continuously, with the aim of supporting the educational and research process, and enhancing students’ awareness of various health and scientific issues, in order to contribute to preparing staff capable of serving the community and keeping pace with the requirements of sustainable development.
