The Student Activities Unit at the College of Health and Medical Technologies, Al-Ayen Iraqi University, organized a field trip for elite group of third-year students from the Medical Laboratory Technologies Department to Al-Ayen Teaching Hospital. The aim was to familiarize them with the latest laboratory technologies and operational procedures within advanced healthcare institutions, thereby enhancing their practical skills and bridging the gap between academic theory and real-world practice.
The field trip included visits to vital departments within the hospital laboratories, where students received detailed explanations from specialists on sample collection and preservation methods, the operation of advanced analytical equipment utilizing artificial intelligence for results, and the occupational safety and infection control protocols implemented in clinical laboratories. This provided students with a comprehensive understanding of their future work.
The college deanship confirmed that this initiative, which falls within its annual plan for scientific activities, comes to break the ice between theoretical curricula and practical application, stressing that Al-Ayen Teaching Hospital represents an ideal training environment that contributes to honing the student’s professional personality and preparing them to engage in the labor market with high efficiency, while the participating students expressed their gratitude for this opportunity that allowed them to touch modern laboratory equipment and deal with real medical cases under the supervision of specialists.
