On Monday, February 23, 2026, Prof. Dr. Haider A. Marhoon, Chancellor of Al-Ayen Iraqi University, received a delegation from the Directorate General of Education in Dhi Qar Province, headed by Director General Mr. Ali Ismail Al-Sabti. The official meeting, held at the university, was to sign a memorandum of understanding for joint educational cooperation. Also present were Professor Dr. Mohammed Jassim Dean of the College of Education, his Academic Deputy Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Abdul-Ridha, Dr. Mohammed Nazal, Prof. Dr. Jalal Shanta, and a number of academic and educational leaders and officials from educational institutions in the province.
During his remarks at the meeting, Prof. Dr. Marhoon emphasized that the university is taking strategic steps to build effective institutional partnerships that contribute to developing the educational environment and enriching it with rigorous academic expertise. He noted that this cooperation embodies the university's vision of openness to state institutions and strengthening integration between university and general education.
The memorandum of cooperation includes implementing joint training programs, holding specialized workshops, organizing scientific activities, and exchanging expertise in curriculum development, teaching methods, and student skills development, thereby enhancing the quality of the educational process and keeping pace with the requirements of academic development.
The attendees at the meeting also praised the growing role of Al-Ayen University in supporting educational and scientific initiatives at the province level, emphasizing that this step represents a qualitative leap towards a sustainable partnership that contributes to establishing a culture of academic cooperation and serving the educational process in Dhi Qar Province.
