In its ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of medical education and expand its international partnerships, a high-level delegation from Al-Ayen Iraqi University concluded its series of strategic meetings in the Arab Republic of Egypt with an extensive meeting at the Faculty of Medicine (Qasr Al-Aini) at Cairo University. The meeting focused on exploring avenues for scientific cooperation and preparing for the signing of a memorandum of understanding for a twinning agreement between the two universities' faculties of medicine.
The university delegation was headed by its Chancellor Prof. Dr. Haider A. Marhoon, and included the Deputy Chancellor for Acedemic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Naseer A. Hussein, the Deputy Chancellor for Administrative Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Atheer Y. Odeh, and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Firas F. Kadhim.
The meeting included in-depth discussions with the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Kasr El Aini, Prof. Dr. Hossam Salah Murad, and the Deputy Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Hanan Mubarak. The discussions focused on drafting a twinning agreement aimed at developing curricula according to the latest international medical education standards, exchanging expertise in clinical training, and opening avenues for cooperation in specialized postgraduate programs and joint scientific research. This initiative builds upon the historical legacy of Kasr El Aini as one of the oldest and most prestigious medical institutions in the Middle East.
For its part, the Al-Ayen University delegation affirmed that this step aligns with the university's vision of engaging with reputable educational institutions. The Egyptian side expressed its keen interest in strengthening cooperation with Iraqi universities, praising the developmental steps being taken by Al-Ayen Iraqi University.
The discussions concluded with an agreement to develop a roadmap that includes implementation mechanisms and a follow-up timeline. This roadmap will ensure that these understandings are translated into tangible results that benefit students and researchers and enhance Al-Ayen University's pursuit of academic excellence both locally and internationally.
