A delegation from Al-Ayen Iraqi University met with Al-Azhar University in Cairo to discuss ways to enhance joint scientific cooperation and strengthen cultural and academic ties between the two universities.
The Al-Ayen University delegation was headed by the University Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Haider A. Marhoon, and included the Deputy Chancellor for Acedemic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Naseer A. Hussein, the Administrative Affairs Deputy Asst. Prof. Dr. Atheer Y. Odeh, and the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Firas F. Kadhim.
The delegation was received by the Rector of Al-Azhar University, Prof. Dr. Salama Jumaa Dawood, along with his Deputy for Graduate Studies and Research, several deans of faculties, and the Higher Education Advisor to the DeputyRector, Dr. Ahmed Al-Shafei.
The meeting included intensive discussions on cooperation in graduate studies, joint scientific research, and the exchange of curricula and teaching expertise. Prof. Dr. Dawood welcomed the Al-Ayen University delegation, emphasizing Al-Azhar University's openness—as a beacon of knowledge in the Islamic world—to cooperate with reputable Iraqi universities, thereby serves the educational advancement of the region.
For his part, Prof. Dr. Marhoon affirmed that this significant visit to Al-Azhar University comes in recognition of its great academic and historical standing, and reflects Al-Ayen University's desire to benefit from Al-Azhar's expertise in establishing the foundations of rigorous scientific research and developing joint academic programs.
The visit concluded with an agreement to draft a comprehensive memorandum of understanding that will translate the discussions into tangible scientific projects serving students and researchers at both universities.
