Under the patronage of the Al-Ayen University's Chancellor Prof. Dr. Haider A. Marhoon, the Continuing Education Department, and the College of Law held a specialized workshop on Monday, January 12, 2026, entitled:
"Combating Drugs from a Human Rights Perspective."
The workshop was held in cooperation with the Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs and included elite of specialists. Presenters included:
Mr. Hassan Saeed Mutlaq: Director of Public Relations and Media at the Directorate of Narcotics Affairs.
Asst. Lecturer Yusra Nayef Al-Dakhili: Head of the Psychological and Educational Counseling Unit at the College of Law.
Key topics of the workshop:
The workshop addressed ways to confront the scourge of drugs from a legal and humanitarian perspective, focusing on the role of community awareness and psychological counseling in protecting youth and students, and clarifying the legal dimensions related to this sensitive issue.
The workshop included awareness-raising dramatizations depicting the roles of the dealer, the trafficker, and the victim, contributing to enhancing students' awareness of the dangers of drugs.
The workshop, which was held in the Faculty of Law hall, witnessed an active attendance from professors and students, and included extensive discussions on mechanisms to reduce the spread of this phenomenon and how to provide support to those affected in accordance with human rights standards.
