As part of its ongoing scientific activities, the Physics Department at the College of Education, Al-Ayen University, held a specialized seminar entitled “Radiation: Its Benefits and Risks.” The seminar was presented by Asst. Lecturer Muntadhar Dakhel Jaloub, a faculty member in the department, to a group of students and professors interested in the fields of medical and radiological physics.
The seminar included a well-documented scientific overview of natural and artificial radiological sources, the mechanisms of radiation interaction with living cells, the differences between safe and dangerous doses, the beneficial applications of radiation in medicine, industry, and energy, and the necessary precautions to take to avoid unnecessary exposure.
It also discussed the latest scientific research on the effects of radiation on living cells and the importance of adhering to international safety standards, emphasizing that the responsible use of radiation yields significant benefits when controlled according to established scientific principles.
This activity reflects the Physics Department's commitment to enhancing students' scientific awareness and updating their knowledge with the latest research findings in modern physics.
