The College of Engineering Technology held an awareness workshop titled "Hidden Psychological Violence between the Concepts of Justice and Human Rights: Towards Promoting the Values of Peace, Tolerance, and Resisting Extremism." The workshop was presented by Asst. Lecturer Adiyan Latif, with the participation of a group of faculty members and students.
The workshop addressed the most prominent forms of psychological violence that women may experience, including neglect, disparagement, marginalization, and indirect psychological pressure, as well as the negative effects these practices have on women's psychological and social health. The workshop also discussed ways to combat this phenomenon and the need to promote a culture of awareness of women's rights and their protection.
The lecturer emphasized that this workshop is part of the College of Engineering Technology's efforts to spread community awareness and consolidate the principles of respect and equality, contributing to building a more stable and cohesive society. This is consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal No. 5 (Gender Equality) through empowering women and protecting them from violence; Goal No. 3 (Good Health and Well-being) through supporting mental and social health; and Goal No. 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) through promoting a culture of respect and non-violence.
The workshop concluded with an open dialogue among the participants, during which insights and contributions were presented, enriching the topic with valuable observations and constructive suggestions.
