On Saturday, June 21, 2025, the Presidency of Al-Ayen Iraqi University supervised the final exams for inmates receiving the university scholarship at Nasiriyah Central Prison for the 2024-2025 academic year. This was part of an educational and humanitarian initiative in coordination with the Ministry of Justice - Iraqi Correctional Service.
The delegation, composed of Prof. Dr. Shafik S. Shafik, Chairman of the Scientific Research Authority and Asst. Prof. Dr. Haider A. Marhoon, Chancellor of the University, supervised the final exams for inmates accepted under the university scholarship at Nasiriyah Central Prison. The delegation also included Asst. Prof. Dr. Atheer Y. Odeh, Deputy Chancellor of the University for Administrative Affairs, and several deans of colleges, including Prof. Dr. Ahmed A. Obeid, Dean of the College of Education and Sports Sciences; Asst. Prof. Dr. Khaled K. Odeh, Dean of the College of Law; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Maitham T. Al-Mousawi, Secretary of the University Council.
The exams were conducted inside the prison under the direct supervision of the university's academic staff, including the faculties of Law, Physical Education and Sports Sciences, and the English Language Department in the College of Education. The exams were conducted in coordination with the prison administration within an organized examination environment that adhered to quality and transparency requirements.M
The Director of Nasiriyah Central Prison, Mr. Hussein Ahmed Al-Saadi praised the pioneering role of the Iraqi Al-Ayen University, appreciating its ongoing efforts to provide university education opportunities for inmates. He emphasized that this initiative represents an advanced model of cooperation between academic and correctional institutions in the service of humanity and society.
