4.3.3 Vocational training events (lifelong learning)

Al-Ayen Iraqi University is actively engaged in providing vocational training opportunities to the public through structured events and executive education programs. These short courses are designed to help individuals, including those not enrolled as university students, to acquire practical skills that support career advancement and personal growth. The programs offered cover a variety of areas relevant to vocational training, such as technical skills, professional development, and specialized certifications, supporting participants in becoming more competitive in the workforce. By facilitating these career-oriented programs, Al-Ayen University contributes to local workforce development and lifelong learning, empowering community members to meet the demands of an evolving job market.

1-Al-Ayen Iraqi University hosted a "Trainer Preparation Course for Modern Teaching Methods in Iraqi Universities," organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Over 100 participants from various Iraqi universities attended, including academic experts and training advisors. The course aims to enhance educational quality by updating teaching methodologies, equipping educators with modern instructional skills. 2- The College of Dentistry, in collaboration with Al-Ayen University's Continuing Education Center and the Alpha Medical Team, organized a first aid workshop. The workshop covered essential first aid practices such as handling fainting, drowning, choking, and CPR techniques for adults, children, and infants. Participants engaged in hands-on practice to build confidence and skill in emergency care. This initiative aligns with SDG 4 by fostering practical healthcare knowledge. 3- The Continuing Education Center, in collaboration with the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department at our university and Al-Karkh University of Science, organized a training course titled "Quality Standards for Educational Laboratories." Led by Dr. Basma Hussein Hamad, a member of the ministerial committee for scientific lab quality standards, the course emphasized laboratory quality standards, covering general, technical, and administrative requirements. It also addressed self-assessment reports, laboratory environments, equipment, materials, and analysis techniques to enhance the accuracy, safety, and reliability of lab results. This initiative aligns with SDG 4. This training emphasized Al-Ayen University’s role in promoting high-quality scientific education and laboratory standards, reinforcing the university's commitment to sustainable educational practices. 4- The College of Engineering Technology welcomed a delegation of 30 female students from the Martyr Mustafa Jamal Vocational High School. The visit included tours of key college labs, such as Electrical Fundamentals and Computer Labs, where students observed equipment and hands-on experiments under the guidance of lab supervisors. Professors provided informative lectures, introducing the labs and answering students' questions. This initiative, overseen by Dr. Raed Nasr Al-Ubaidi, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, and Dr. Moudhi Luftha, Head of Computer Engineering Technologies, aligns with SDG 4 by promoting access to educational resources and inspiring young students in STEM fields. 5- In alignment with Al-Ayen University's commitment to enhancing academic and scientific engagement, the university sponsored the 5th Scientific Forum of the Spring Heart Center, held jointly at Al-Ayen University and the College of Medicine at Dhi Qar University. The forum attracted a wide range of academic experts from various Iraqi medical schools and prominent figures in cardiology, including Prof. Peter Currie from the UK and members of the British Heart and Hypertension Society. The event featured discussions on advanced cardiology topics such as heart failure, coronary procedures, and innovative treatments, supporting SDG 4 by fostering educational growth in the medical community. 6- In alignment with SDG 4 and SDG 9, Al-Ayen Iraqi University hosted an introductory workshop on Iraqi Academic Researcher Digital Platform, developed at the request of Iraq's Ministry of Higher Education. Led by university officials, this workshop provided participants with an overview of the platform's resources, which include a centralized researcher database and academic profile management tools to facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing. By offering access to Iraqi journals and a space for researchers to share interests, the platform supports enhanced academic visibility and strengthens the country's scientific infrastructure. 7- Al-Ayen University conducted a two-day training course on laboratory quality standards for laboratory officials from the College of Medicine, presented at the Continuing Education Center. The course covered educational laboratory quality standards, including technical, administrative, and general requirements. It also provided guidance on self-assessment report writing according to standards and guidelines, focusing on laboratory structure, equipment, materials, procedures, and techniques used in scientific experiments.     8- Al-Ayen Iraqi University hosted a developmental workshop on enhancing skills for participation in artistic activities, organized by the Student Activities Department of the Supervision and Scientific Evaluation Division of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Held in the university's central conference hall, this event aimed to cultivate students' creative abilities and promote cultural engagement, aligning with SDG 4 by enriching extracurricular learning and skills for participation in artistic activities.     9- Al-Ayen University’s College of Engineering hosted students from Al-Tadamun Orphan School in Dhi Qar for an interactive workshop on artificial intelligence (AI), In alignment with SDG 4, SDG 9, and SDG 10. Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs Dr. Raed Nasr Al-Obaidi, faculty members, and instructor Ali Al-Zubaidi facilitated this event, part of Al-Zubaidi’s "Sinbad Educational Journey" series. The workshop introduced students to AI applications across sectors like medicine, engineering, and gaming, fostering technological awareness. The practical session allowed students to interact with AI tools, promoting inclusion by providing access to advanced technological education and inspiring innovation.     10- In a landmark achievement, Al-Ayen University’s College of Medicine, in collaboration with Dhi Qar University, Somer University, and the Dhi Qar Health Department, conducted Iraq's first final mock practical examination for the British Fellowship in Internal Medicine. This event was attended by distinguished faculty from British medical colleges and Iraqi medical institutions.   • 11- Al-Ayen University held its Fourth International Scientific Conference on "Intelligent Systems and Their Applications" from December 16-17, 2023. This specialized conference focused on two key themes: Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence, addressing the role of intelligent systems in diverse sectors. With over 50 research papers presented, covering neural networks, deep learning, data mining, natural language processing, and smart city technologies, the conference promoted knowledge exchange and international collaboration.
