Al-Ayen Iraqi University ensures full accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities through a comprehensive set of physical, educational, and social support schemes. The university and its teaching hospital are equipped with lifts containing disability-access buttons and voice guidance for the visually impaired, accessible restrooms, and designated entrances and exits that facilitate movement across campus. Additionally, free transportation services, including electric and accessible buses, are provided inside and outside the university premises. The campus features dedicated pathways for people with disabilities, ensuring safe mobility across all facilities.

Beyond infrastructure, the university conducts monthly meetings with disabled students and staff to evaluate their needs and enhance accommodations. It also organizes specialized workshops addressing disability inclusion and psychological counseling programs from childhood, promoting awareness and long-term well-being. Here are some of the university’s key activities:

1. Al-Ayen Iraqi University organized a workshop titled “Psychological Support for People with Disabilities: Toward a Happier and More Independent Life,” focusing on inclusion and empowerment for students with disabilities. The event highlighted the university’s role in fostering equal learning opportunities, social cohesion, and peer support. It supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) by promoting awareness, accessibility, and equality within the university community.

2. Al-Ayen Iraqi University held a meeting with students with special needs, attended by the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, Dr. Haider Abdul-Amir Marhoon, and the Psychological Counseling Department staff. The discussion focused on empowering students, addressing their challenges, and ensuring an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
