Al-Ayen Iraqi University – SDG 11 Progress Report (2024)
1. Al-Ayen Iraqi University achieved sixth place in the 2023–2024 University Theater Festival held under the slogan “Art and Creativity Unite Us” from March 3–7, 2024, surpassing several public and private universities. Led by Dr. Hussein Muhibis Tu’ma and Mr. Ali Khudair Abbas, students delivered remarkable theatrical performances that showcased their talent and creativity. This achievement highlights the university’s commitment to promoting arts, culture, and student talent development, contributing to SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).

2. Department of Biomedical Engineering at Al-Ayen Iraqi University organized a cultural visit to the ancient city of Ur and the Sumerian Theater to enhance students’ awareness of Iraq’s rich heritage. The activity connected cultural understanding with academic learning, supporting SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).

3. Hamad Abdullah Shaher from the College of Engineering Technology at Al-Ayen Iraqi University held his first photography exhibition titled “The Beauty of the Marshes between its Dryness and Greenery.” The event, attended by Prof. Dr. Haider A. Marhoon and college leadership, showcased stunning images reflecting the environmental and cultural richness of Iraq’s marshes. This initiative supports SDG 14 (Life Below Water) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and promotes awareness of sustainable ecosystem preservation.
