1. Al-Ayen Iraqi University and its Teaching Hospital have implemented smart emergency exit lighting systems to enhance safety standards across all facilities. These intelligent systems ensure continuous illumination and clear guidance during emergencies, supporting rapid and safe evacuation for patients, staff, and students. This initiative reflects the university’s commitment to SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by integrating advanced safety technologies that foster a secure and sustainable educational and healthcare environment.



2. Al-Ayen Iraqi University and its Teaching Hospital have introduced new electric fire safety and emergency response vehicles to enhance safety and sustainability across their facilities. These environmentally friendly vehicles are equipped with advanced firefighting tools and systems, ensuring quick and effective response while reducing carbon emissions. This initiative supports SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by promoting clean energy use, improving safety infrastructure, and fostering a sustainable and secure environment for education and healthcare.

2. Detailed SDG Contributions

Initiatives and Activities

Al-Ayen Iraqi University has established five memorandums of understanding with renowned Iranian universities, including Khwarizmi, Shahid Beheshti, Sharif University of Technology, Urmia, and Ferdowsi University, three of which rank highly in the Shanghai, Times, and QS classifications. These agreements cover collaborative research on advanced topics like nanotechnology applications in medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy, as well as joint efforts in alternative energy, such as a mid-size wind turbine project, and oil sector challenges, including radon gas mitigation and polymer-based enhancements for oil extraction in older fields.   • Al-Ayen Iraqi University’s Continuing Education Center, in collaboration with the Tree Planting Unit, held a scientific workshop, titled "Climate Change and the Use of Technology in Supporting Clean Energy and Reducing Emissions." Director of the Dhi Qar Environment Directorate, delivered a lecture highlighting technology’s role in promoting clean energy and reducing emissions. This event aligns with SDG 7, SDG 13: Climate Action, and SDG 4 by raising environmental awareness, fostering sustainable practices, and facilitating knowledge exchange to address climate-related challenges.
