The College of Pharmacy at Al-Ayen Iraqi University, represented by its Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit, held a lecture entitled "Motives for Extremism and Violence in Human Behavior and Their Social Impact." The lecture took place at 9:30 AM on Monday, March 9, 2026, in Hall PH7.
Dr. Shaker Hawla, Head of the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Pharmacy, delivered the lecture. He addressed the underlying motives for the phenomena of violence and extremism and their associated social, intellectual, and political effects, explaining their negative repercussions on the individual and society.
The lecture also discussed ways to address the phenomenon of extremism and violence, through the university's role in raising awareness and educating the public, as well as the community's role in promoting the values of moderation, tolerance, and the rejection of violence, thus contributing to building a safe and intellectually and socially stable environment.
