On Thursday, February 26, 2026, the College of Engineering at Al-Ayen Iraqi University organized an afforestation campaign at the Baraem Al-Qada School. This initiative is part of the college's programs aimed at promoting social responsibility and instilling a culture of environmental awareness among younger generations.
The campaign involved planting a number of perennial trees and ornamental plants in the schoolyard. Faculty members and students from the college participated, selecting plant species suitable for the local environment to enhance the aesthetic appeal and provide a healthier environment for the students.
The initiative also included providing simplified educational sessions for the students on the importance of preserving green spaces and the role of trees in purifying the air and reducing temperatures. Furthermore, it encouraged them to care for the school environment and cultivate a spirit of volunteerism.
This event is part of a series of activities implemented by the College of Engineering at Al-Ayen Iraqi University to support the local community and align with the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 11, which focuses on making cities and communities more sustainable by contributing to the provision of healthy, safe, and sustainable learning environments.
At the conclusion of the campaign, the administration of the school expressed its thanks and appreciation to the College of Engineering for this initiative, valuing its efforts in supporting educational institutions and contributing to creating a greener and more sustainable educational environment.
