To foster cooperation between higher education institutions and government agencies, the Dean of the College of Engineering Technology Asst. Prof. Dr. Rafid S. Aboud, and the Deputy Dean for Acedemic Affairs Asst. Prof. Dr. Raed N. Al-Obaidi, met with a delegation from Dhi Qar Governorate, represented by the Deputy Governor for Planning, Mr. Razzaq Al-Ali, to discuss avenues for cooperation and building strategic partnerships in the fields of cybersecurity and e-governance.
The meeting, held at the College of Engineering Technology, was attended by department heads and unit managers from the College of Engineering Technology and representatives from the Dhi Qar Governorate Planning Department. Discussions focused on the importance of developing local expertise in cybersecurity, a vital pillar for protecting institutions and citizens in an era of increasing digital reliance, particularly given the escalating digital threats facing governmental and community institutions in Iraq and globally.
The meeting also addressed the role of e-governance in enhancing transparency and improving government services, contributing to the development of an integrated digital institutional environment that supports public service and achieves greater administrative efficiency. Following discussions between the two parties, the college and the delegation from Dhi Qar Governorate agreed to organize a joint visit to the Governorate Council to gain firsthand knowledge of the cybersecurity and e-governance departments and to explore opportunities for scientific and applied cooperation between the college and government institutions.
It was also agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding between the college and the Governorate Council, aiming to strengthen the partnership in a way that serves the interests of both parties and enhances national capabilities in these vital fields.
