Under the patronage of the Al-Ayen University's Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Haider A. Marhoon, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Firas F. Kadhim, and within the program of the Visiting Professor Program, the College of Engineering, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, held an online advanced training workshop entitled
"Fiber Optics for High-Capacity Communication: Technology, Challenges, and Solutions," It was presented by Dr. Sumaya Ahmed, who holds a PhD. in Electrical Engineering from Alexandria University. Dr. Ahmed addressed specialized scientific topics focusing on recent advancements in fiber optic technologies and their strategic role in building high-capacity and efficient communication systems. She also reviewed the technical and engineering challenges facing practical applications and discussed internationally recognized advanced solutions for enhancing network reliability and improving data transmission efficiency.
The workshop included in-depth scientific discussions on the prospects for developing communications infrastructure and the importance of utilizing fiber optic technologies to support digital transformation and accelerate information transfer, in line with the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and international standards adopted in the communications sector.
This workshop is part of a series of scientific and training activities that the College of Engineering is keen to implement, within the framework of its continuous endeavor to raise the academic and scientific level, update educational programs, enhance academic partnerships and open up to regional and international scientific expertise, in a way that contributes to supporting scientific research, developing engineering capabilities, and achieving the goals of sustainable development, especially in the fields of industry, innovation and infrastructure.
