In an effort to promote mental health and raise awareness of the importance of psychological counseling, the University Psychological Counseling Unit organized an awareness activity entitled:
“Enhancing Psychological Counseling for Crises and Trauma”
The event was attended by the Dean of the College of Education, Prof. Dr. Hussein Al-Husseini,
the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Abdul-Redha, and a number of department heads, professors, and students.
This workshop highlighted the concept of psychological crises and trauma, their types, and their effects on individuals, particularly within the university environment. It also addressed the role of psychological counseling in early intervention, containment, and psychological support.
The activity covered several topics, including:
• Defining psychological crises and the difference between them and trauma
• Types of psychological crises and traumas
• The most prominent accompanying psychological symptoms
• The role of psychological counseling in dealing with crises
• The importance of seeking psychological help and not hesitating to consult a qualified counselor
It was also emphasized that psychological counseling is a fundamental pillar in supporting students psychologically and helping them overcome pressures and challenges, which positively impacts their psychological and academic well-being.
This event is part of a series of activities that the University Psychological Counseling Unit is keen to conduct, with the aim of disseminating psychological awareness and promoting a safe and supportive university environment for mental health.
