In coordination with the Dhi Qar Governorate Police Headquarters and the Ministry of Water Resources, the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Al-Ayen Iraqi University organized a field visit to the Al-Chibaish marshes in Dhi Qar Governorate on Sunday, March 3, 2024. The visit included several axes. The first was to organize a scientific symposium moderated by the head of the Theoretical Sciences Branch at the College Mr. Ammar Z. Sabry, which dealt with the curricula of the Ministry of Higher Education and the directives of the university presidency to preserve the heritage of the marshes and marketing it as part of the world heritage.
In the second axis, the assistant lecturer Ahmed Abdel Abbas touched on human rights and the violations that the marshland areas were exposed to as a result of the policies of the previous regime, with a focus on displacement and drying, which negatively affected the environment, the economy, and human rights.
On the other hand, the representative of the Ministry of Water Resources Eng. Ahmed W. Muhammad spoke about the efforts to revive the marshes and the tourism development caused by the above, pointing out the attraction of Arab and foreign tourists. The visit concluded with the recitation of Surat Al-Fatihah for the souls of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for dear Iraq.
