Al-Ayen Iraqi University – College of Engineering Technology
On December 9, 2025, the College of Engineering Technology at Al-Ayen Iraqi University welcomed visiting prof. Dr. Shihab Abdullah from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia, for a scientific visit aimed at strengthening academic cooperation and exchanging expertise.
The visit began with meeting the visitor by the Dean of the College, Asst. Prof. Dr. Rafid Sakban Aboud, and the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Raed Nasr Al-Obaidi. Where the Dean presented a summary of the college's development over the past few years, highlighting its status as one of the university's most important colleges due to its high-quality academic departments that keep pace with technological advancements and meet the labor market's demand for these specializations. Then, he toured the college, visited its classrooms and scientific laboratories, and reviewed its academic programs, as well as its administrative and service facilities. The Dean commended the college's administrative, academic, and organizational standards.
Afterward, the visiting professor delivered a distinguished lecture to students in the Computer Engineering and Cybersecurity Engineering departments, titled "Quantum Computing in Cybersecurity."
During the lecture, he presented modern insights into the application of quantum computing in cybersecurity (conceptually and programmatically). The lecture was met with enthusiastic participation from all attendees, including faculty and students, who posed a number of questions and engaged in discussions, which the guest answered with patience and interest. He expressed his admiration for the college's high standards, emphasizing its distinguished students and revealing his desire to repeat the visit in the future and deliver insightful lectures to enhance academic collaboration.
In conclusion, the visitor was presented with a certificate of appreciation by the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, on behalf of the Dean and the College Council, in recognition of his scholarly contributions.
