On Thursday, January 9, 2025, the Cybersecurity Engineering Technology Department at the College of Engineering Technology organized an introductory workshop for first-year students entitled “Bologna Process in Cybersecurity Engineering Technology”. The workshop was managed by the Head of the Department, Dr. Mustafa M. Ghaithan, and attended by a number of students and faculty members. This workshop comes as part of the department’s efforts to introduce students to modern academic systems and ensure that academic programs are consistent with engineering technical accreditation standards.
The workshop began with a comprehensive introduction to the Bologna system, and Dr. Mustafa explained how this system contributes to unifying academic programs, which facilitates students’ transfer between different universities and enhances their chances of completing their postgraduate studies or working in international institutions.
The workshop addressed an explanation of the electronic platform designated for students, where Dr. Mustafa reviewed how to use it to manage lectures, assignments, and academic activities, which contributes to organizing the educational process effectively. The absence system and student discipline laws were also detailed, stressing the importance of adhering to these laws to ensure a regular learning environment.
In the context of discussing the importance of the specialization, Dr. Mustafa highlighted the vital role of cybersecurity technologies in protecting data and digital infrastructure. He stressed that this specialization is one of the main areas that institutions need in light of the rapid technological progress.
The workshop concluded with a set of advice for students, where they were given the opportunity to ask their questions and inquiries about the new system and the curriculum.
