The Chancellor of Al-Ayen University Prof. Dr. Haider A. Marhoon participated in the second edition of the Iraq Education 2025 Conference, which was held on Sunday, October 12, 2025, under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, with vast participation from Iraqi and international universities and research institutions.
Prof. Dr. Marhoon moderated the main panel discussion entitled "Scientific Research Strategy in Iraq," alongside the elite of leading Iraqi and international scientific research figures, including:
Prof. Dr. Haider Abdul-Dahd, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Scientific Research Affairs
Prof. Dr. Shafiq S. Shafiq, Chairman of the Scientific Research Authority
Prof. Dr. Lubna K. Mahdi, Director General of the Research and Development Department.
Prof. Dr. Bahaa Adnan Yahya, Deputy Secretary-General of the Federation of Arab Scientific Research Councils.
Dr. Walid Hassan, Director of the Solutions Consulting Department at Clarivate for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region.
The session addressed three main exes:
1. Scientific Research Strategies in Iraq: Assessing the Current Situation and Envisioning the Future.
2. Quality vs. Quantity and Promotion Policies.
3. Challenges and Opportunities in the Scientific Research Environment.
During his interventions, Prof. Dr. Marhoon emphasized the importance of adopting a unified national vision for scientific research based on innovation and practical application to serve society. He noted that Al-Ayen Iraqi University seeks through its active participation in such forums to strengthen its academic and research presence and exchange expertise with local and international institutions.
