As part of its commitment to social responsibility and advancing women's health, the Women's Empowerment Unit at the College of Health and Medical Technologies at Al-Ayen Iraqi University launched an intensive and dynamic workshop under the slogan: "Prevention, Awareness, and a Future," focusing on the importance of early detection of breast cancer.
The workshop was well-attended by faculty and students and included comprehensive scientific and educational topics presented by healthcare and gynecology specialists.
The workshop aimed to instill a culture of health and preventive awareness among college staff and the local community. Key topics included:
1. Defining Breast Cancer: Providing detailed and simplified information about the disease, its causes, and risk factors.
2. The Importance of Early Detection: Emphasizing that early diagnosis increases the survival rate to very high levels.
3. Methods of Self- and Clinical Examination: Training participants on the correct steps for performing a breast self-examination (BSE) and determining when to undergo a clinical examination and mammography.
4. Psychological aspect and support: Discussing the psychological and social support needed by the patient and recovering women.
