Under the patronage of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Adnan T. Al-Khafaji, the Women's Empowerment Unit of the college, organized a scientific symposium on Thursday, April 17, 2025, entitled "Early Detection of Breast Cancer." Consultant physician Ali K. Al-Haider presented the symposium.
The symposium aimed to highlight the seriousness of breast cancer and the importance of early detection in increasing the chances of recovery.
The symposium addressed early detection methods, including breast self-examination, which every woman after the age of twenty should perform.
It also addressed clinical examinations performed by a physician to examine the breasts and armpits.
It also addressed the importance of mammography in detecting tumors and other changes in the breast.
It also highlighted the importance of breast MRI, which provides a detailed image of the breast.
The symposium identified women at greater risk of breast cancer.
