Al-Ayen University achieved the second position in the Southern Region Iraqi Universities Basketball League, organized by Department of Supervision and Evaluation – Branch of Students Activities in the MHESR. And hosted by Basrah University, Southern Technical University and College of Iraq.
The final match was attended by Vice-Chancellor of Basrah University Prof. Dr. Ali Hamthy, Dean of Physical Education and Sports Sciences Dr. Sabah Mehdi, Head of Olympic Committee in Basrah Dr. Mushtaq Hameed and a number of officials of Basrah governorate
The Head of Students Activities Department Dr. Hussein M. Tuama announced " Al-Ayen University came second having won all matches in the league excepting the one with Basrah University which came first. the third position was for Thi –Qar University team who lost two matches at the beginning of the league with Al-Ayen and Basrah Universities respectively
