The College of Education at Al-Ayen Iraqi University organizes a scientific symposium on data and information collection in statistics.
The Women's Empowerment Unit at the College of Education at AUIQ organized a scientific symposium on Saturday, April 19, 2025, entitled "Data and Information Collection in Statistics." Asst. Lecturer Ibrahim Hussein Al-Shammari lectured at the symposium.
The symposium aimed to highlight the importance of data analysis as a fundamental process through which data is collected, organized, interpreted, and presented, with the aim of drawing accurate conclusions or supporting evidence-based decisions.
During the symposium, the lecturer discussed the role of mathematical models and probability theory in data analysis within the field of mathematical statistics, given their importance in understanding patterns and predicting future outcomes.
The symposium also addressed data types, which are divided into:
1. Quantitative (numerical) data: such as height, weight, and student grades.
2. Descriptive (non-numerical) data: such as eye color and car type.
The seminar also included an explanation of the stages of data collection and analysis, which include: questionnaires, experiments, and observation, as basic tools in the statistical process.
