As part of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4: Quality Education
SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure),
The College of Engineering Technology at Al-Ayen Iraqi University organized an awareness workshop entitled:
"The Risks of Using Trends and Artificial Intelligence Tools Without Inquiring or Researching Their Negatives and Risks." The workshop was held on Saturday, April 19, 2025, and was attended by a number of faculty members and students.
The workshop was presented by Professor Ayat Hamad Khalaf, who addressed several topics related to the unconscious use of popular trends and AI tools. Most notably, the impact of trending content on collective behavior, the role of IA in shaping public opinion, and the risks of relying on automated content to address intellectual, scientific, or social issues.
She also addressed the importance of verifying the sources of circulating content and raising awareness of the ethics of using AI in digital media, warning against being swept away by these trends without sufficient awareness or understanding of their potential negative consequences.
In conclusion, the importance of technical education and the need to engage consciously and responsibly with AI tools were emphasized, through the continued organization of workshops and training programs that contribute to enhancing digital awareness among students and the university community.
