Within the framework of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG No. 5: Gender Equality, No. 4: Quality Education, No. 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, No. 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions)
The Women's Affairs Unit at the College of Engineering Technology, in cooperation with the College of Pharmacy, organized a workshop entitled "Teaching Women the Art of Public Speaking, Negotiation, Building Self-Confidence and Leadership Skills", supervised and delivered by Eng. Ayat Iyad.
The workshop began with an introduction to the art of public speaking and its importance in enhancing self-confidence and influencing others, where a SWOT analysis of this art was presented, with a review of a model of one of the pioneering Iraqi women in this field. This was followed by the axis of building self-confidence, which discussed the importance of knowing strengths and weaknesses and enhancing personal presence, supported by a SWOT analysis and the experience of a successful Iraqi woman who was able to overcome challenges and achieve success.
In the art of negotiation axis, effective methods for successful negotiation were reviewed, with the application of SWOT analysis to understand the factors influencing decision-making, followed by a presentation of the experience of one of the pioneering women in this field. The workshop also addressed the leadership axis, where the concept of effective leadership was explained, and the importance of SWOT analysis in identifying leadership traits while highlighting a prominent leadership figure as a role model. The workshop concluded with an interactive discussion session, in which attendees were given the opportunity to share their opinions.
