In a step towards promoting gender equality, the College of Engineering, in cooperation with the College of Law at Al-Ayen Iraqi University, organized a workshop entitled "Gender Equality", which was held on January 27, 2025. The workshop was presented by Professor Yusra Naif Al-Dakhili at the College of Law, in the presence of a number of faculty members and students from both colleges.
The workshop touched on pivotal topics such as promoting gender equality in society and the cultural and social challenges that hinder achieving this. It also addressed the vital role played by both individuals and institutions in promoting gender issues and presented some successful examples that contributed to making a noticeable difference in this field.
In his intervention, the Head of the Law Department, Dr. Ammar Hamid addressed the role of legal legislation in supporting and protecting women's rights, which opened the way for interactive discussion sessions on ways to promote these rights in various fields.
At the end of the workshop, participants came out with recommendations aimed at raising community awareness about gender equality issues, developing educational curricula and media programs to highlight these issues, in addition to strengthening legislation and policies that guarantee women's rights and provide equal opportunities for all.
The need for collective and sustainable work to achieve social justice and enhance the active role of women in society was also emphasized.
