As part of its efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (Development Goal No. 4: Ensure Quality Education) and as part of its efforts to achieve the engineering and program accreditation standards, the College of Engineering Technology organized, on Monday, December 30, 2024, a workshop entitled “Academic Subjects and their Units in the Department of Medical Devices Engineering Technology”. The workshop was presented by the Head of the Department of Medical Devices Engineering Technology, Dr. Muhammad Ghazi Malham, with the aim of introducing new students to the academic study system in the department and highlighting their professional future in light of technological developments.
The workshop opened with a first axis that addressed the introduction of Al-Ayen Iraqi University AUIQ and the College of Engineering Technology and its old and new departments, with a focus on the Department of Medical Devices Engineering Technology. During the axis, the department’s structure, goals, and academic programs were reviewed, in addition to the specializations it covers. The future work prospects for the department’s graduates were also highlighted in light of the development of technology and the integration of artificial intelligence into the medical devices sector.
The second axis focused on the Bologna Study System, explaining the components of this system and the mechanism of working with the ECTS system that links the academic degree to the student’s effort (SWL). It also clarified how the courses are related to each other at all academic levels, from introductory subjects to complementary subjects. The determinants of success were highlighted, including semester performance and the final exam, while emphasizing the importance of attendance and continuous follow-up to achieve academic success.
The workshop concluded with an open discussion with the students, where Dr. Mohammad Ghazi Melhem answered the students’ inquiries.
