The representative of the Chancellor of Al-Ayen Iraqi University, Dean of the College of Law, Prof. Dr. Khaled K. Odeh, discussed with the Director of the Nasiriyah Central Prison, Hussein Ahmed Al-Saadi the issue of of opening university classes in the Nasiriyah Central Prison within the framework of joint cooperation between the Ministries of Justice, Higher Education and Scientific Research, aiming of enhancing scientific cooperation in the reforming departments.
The two parties discussed the implementation of inmate education plans and programs sponsored by His Excellency, the Minister of Higher Education and His Excellency, the Minister of Justice, who stressed the importance of inmates to continuing their education. During the visit, the location of the university to be opened this year inside the prison was discussed, and the scientific specializations that will be taught are determined, and the work mechanism of the teaching staff was discussed.
It is worth noting that Al-Ayen Iraqi University previously granted the Ministry of Justice fifty academic seats for inmates wishing to complete their university studies. This cooperation reflects the two ministries’ keenness to provide new educational opportunities for inmates, which contributes to their rehabilitation and effective integration into society.
