The ceremony began with a fragrant recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, the reading of Surat Al-Fatiha for the souls of Iraqi martyrs, the national anthems of Iraq and Malaysia, and the showing of films illustrating the university’s achievements as well as its anthem.
Prof. Dr. Shafik S. Shafik, said in his speech at the ceremony, “We seek to strengthen our university’s academic reputation by benefiting from prestigious universities such as the prestigious UMPSA University through various joint scientific activities between the two universities,” indicating “strengthening the concept of the academy for students and teachers through visits.” Continuous and recurring field work and academic coexistence with their counterparts at your esteemed university.”
He stressed that “one of the important strategic goals of our university is “to be a university that serves the global sustainable development goals.” This requires a lot of expertise and joint scientific research, and there are many details in this section.
In his turn, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Ziyad Bin Suleiman said “Today represents an important day for UMPSA. We are pleased and honored to have this privilege to begin our partnerships with higher education institutions in Iraq.”
He also added, "We do not have any existing partnerships with Iraqi universities. We would like this initiative to begin with our ambition to work with esteemed Iraqi institutions to achieve mutual advantages and benefits," stressing that "we strongly believe that this event represents an excellent opportunity to reinforce our commitment to strengthening our broad alliances in the academic and research field."
The ceremony was concluded with the signing of the agreement and the exchanging gifts between the two universities, hoping that this event would result in strengthening cooperation between Al-Ayen Iraqi University and the Malaysian University of Bhank, which would reflect positively on the academic reputation of the two institutions.
