In its endeavor to achieve and support the sustainable development goals in Iraq (SDG No. 4: Quality Education) and (SDG No. 17: Partnerships to Achieve the Goals), the Technical Engineering College, represented by the Department of Computer Technology Engineering, made a scientific visit to the Dhi Qar gas compound power station. On Sunday, April 16, 2023, a delegation of second stage students of the Department was accompanied under the supervision of the Deputy Dean for Scientific Affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Raed Nasr Al-Obaidi, and the Head of the Department, Dr. Moudi Lafta.

The first objective of the visit was for the delegation to carry out an activity within the community services schedule of the college, which is to plant a number of plants and shrubs at the station, as planting trees is one of the most important elements and factors for preserving the environment from the various causes of pollution. With the continuous change in the global climate in general and in Iraq in particular, it is important to intensify interest in afforestation and increase green spaces.  It is known that afforestation contributes to reducing air pollution and reducing air temperature.

The second objective was to educate the students about the system used in the station, how to generate and control electric power by the central control room in the station, and how to distribute energy to the sections and regions of the city, where Eng. Raafet Shaheed presented an introduction lecture about the above besides answering the students' questions

The delegation was received and escorted by the station director, Eng. Maan Majeed Al-Hosuna, who expressed his gratitude and admiration to the delegation and the initiative, and expressed the readiness of the engineering staff to receive more scientific visits by the students of our college for the purpose of getting acquainted with the departments and work of the station in the future.
