17.2.5: In 2024, Al-Ayen Iraqi University was committed to promoting sustainable development goals through local and international partnerships and collaborations, specifically focusing on those aligned with Goal 17.

1. The Psychological and Educational Counseling Division at Al-Ayen Iraqi University, represented by Professor Dr. Jalal Shinta Jabr, met with Mr. Alaa Mashi Al-Akeeli, Director of the Rehabilitation Center for Drug Addicts and Substance Abusers in Dhi Qar, to discuss prospects for cooperation. Through this visit, we aim to learn about the number of addicts, the nature of their substance use, the types of drugs consumed, the entities cooperating with them, and the legal provisions concerning drug users. The university strives to open new avenues of cooperation with other institutions to enhance its role and achieve its objectives by conducting studies and forming research teams to address social issues.  This effort contributes to SDG Good Health and Wellbeing and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering a sustainable research environment and supporting innovation within the academic community.

2. The Colleges of Pharmacy and Engineering Technology at Al-Ayen Iraqi University signed an administrative twinning agreement to enhance academic and administrative collaboration. The partnership covers key areas such as quality assurance, sustainable development, continuous education, women’s affairs, and community service. 3. A delegation from the College of Engineering, Department of Petroleum Engineering at Al-Ayen Iraqi University visited the Petronas facility at the Al-Gharraf oil field on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, in cooperation with the Al-Ayen University branch of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). This visit was part of ongoing efforts to enhance communication between students and the oil industry and provide practical educational opportunities to learn about modern technologies used in risk assessment and management, while emphasizing the role of safety in promoting efficient performance and reducing accidents. This initiative advances SDGs 3 Good Health and Wellbeing, Quality Education (SDG 4) , SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering innovation, research excellence, and sustainable educational development.

4. received a delegation from the Iraqi Athletes Syndicate – Dhi Qar Branch, headed by the Syndicate President, Captain Sarmad Mohammed Redha, to explore prospects for joint cooperation between the two institutions. The two parties discussed avenues of collaboration, including organizing several developmental training courses, as well as various events and festivals aimed at supporting all sports champions in the province across different athletic disciplines. 5. In its pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4: Quality Education), the Computer Engineering Technology Department at the College of Engineering Technology organized a field visit to the Communications Department on Tuesday, November 21, 2024, under the supervision of Dr. Magdi Adel. The visit aimed at enhancing the practical skills of the department's students. It included a tour of the department's various sections, where students learned about the operation of wired and wireless communication networks and the fundamentals of data management and transmission across these networks.

The university's engagements, including MoUs with international institutions like Sohar University and UCSI University, and local collaborations with Iraqi educational bodies, foster knowledge-sharing and mutual development. Initiatives like field trips, international training courses, and community health outreach in partnership with NGOs such as IFMSA exemplify Al-Ayen’s commitment to educational excellence, community service, and skill development. These efforts not only enhance academic and research standards but also strengthen institutional alliances, showcasing Al-Ayen’s role in promoting sustainable development in higher education.

1. Al-Ayen University welcomed Dr. Hamza Idris, Vice President of Sohar University, Oman, and its Director of Quality Assurance. This visit aimed to strengthen collaboration, with both institutions preparing to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand shared educational and research opportunities. Al-Ayen University’s leaders and faculty hosted Dr. Idris on a tour of the campus, showcasing classrooms, laboratories, and the specialized dental teaching hospital. This partnership supports SDG 4 by fostering academic growth and SDG 17 through regional and global educational collaboration.

2. In its pursuit of Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 17 and SDG 4, Al-Ayen University's College of Engineering, represented by the Department of Computer Engineering Technologies, organized an academic field trip to the Dhi Qar Directorate of Communications and Informatics. Led by Dr. Mudhi Lafi, Head of the Department, the visit included faculty members and students. Discussions with the Directorate’s manager covered plans for collaborative workshops, student internships, and joint scientific events. Students were trained on topics such as e-government systems, optical networks, and both wired and wireless exchanges. This engagement not only fostered partnerships but also enhanced educational quality by linking theoretical knowledge with practical industry insights, equipping students with essential skills for their future careers.

3. In alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, students from Al-Ayen University's College of Dentistry, as part of the Scientific Family group and in collaboration with the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA), visited Al-Sadiqa Primary School.Under the supervision of Dr. Batoul Faisal, the visit included oral health check-ups, educational sessions on dental care, and distribution of dental hygiene supplies. 4. The Student Activities Department at Al-Ayen University participated in an international training course on managing and organizing university student festivals, held in collaboration with Iraqi universities and supervised by the Department of Student Activities at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The course included three key lectures: Dr. Salah Wahab Shaker from Iraq discussed human resources management for university festivals, Dr. Mohamed Mostafa Abdel-Baqi from Egypt covered organizing student activities, and international trainer Abdullah Al-Boush from Lebanon presented on managing scout camps. The second day focused on managing student team participation in festivals. 5. Al-Ayen University's President, Dr. Shafiq Shakir Shafiq Al-Mawla, signed an academic cooperation agreement with several Iraqi public and private universities, including Sulaimaniyah University and Cihan University, during a forum hosted by the Iraqi Academics Syndicate and the Kurdistan Academic Society. This partnership aims to foster collaborative scientific research, exchange expertise, and organize joint conferences and academic forums, enhancing educational quality and research output. 6. A delegation from Al-Ayen University, led by Dr. Shafiq Shakir Shafiq Al-Mawla and supported by university leaders, visited UCSI University to establish programs for top-performing student training, exclusive postgraduate opportunities, and over 100 research scholarships for Iraqi scholars. Al-Ayen University also plans to launch an Institute for Scientific Research Methods. During a detailed tour of UCSI's teaching hospital, Al-Ayen's delegation discussed prospective medical faculty collaborations.
