On Monday, May 6, 2024, the College of Pharmacy at Al-Ayen Iraqi University (AUIQ) conducted a "Presentation Seminar" for first-year students, with direct follow-up by the Dean of the College Asst. Prof. Dr. Qutaiba A. Qasim.
The presentations were supervised by Asst. Lect. Mais Mazen. She declared that the students delivered their presentations on the opium plant. These compounds are very effective in relieving pain for short periods of time, but opioids are among the substances mostly accompanied by side effects, as they are considered annoying and threatening human life.
Pointing out that “addiction to and dependence on opium is one of the problems associated with its use and requires treatment to get rid of addiction.”
