The College of Health and Medical Technologies, in cooperation with the Continuous Education Center, organized a workshop entitled "Ethics of Scientific Research "presented by Dr. Fadhil Ghadhban Al-Saidi, a faculty member in the Department of Anesthesia Technologies. It was held on Monday, March 11,2025, in Hall F2C1, with the participation of faculty members and fourth-year students.
The workshop focused on introducing participants to the concept of scientific research and its importance in advancing knowledge and serving society. It also clarified the ethical values that researchers should uphold while collecting, analyzing, and presenting data. Furthermore, the workshop addressed the foundations of scientific integrity, methods for avoiding plagiarism, and the researcher's responsibilities towards society, the environment, and research participants. Examples of ethical violations in research and ways to prevent them were also reviewed.
The workshop concluded by emphasizing that adherence to the ethics of scientific research is the cornerstone of building a sound academic community, and that a researcher's success is not measured solely by the number of publications, but also by their honesty and integrity in scientific work.
The workshop recommended the inclusion of a course or unit on the ethics of scientific research within university curricula, promoting a culture of academic integrity among students and researchers, activating credibility and scientific integrity committees in colleges, and encouraging researchers to adhere to internationally recognized ethical publishing standards.
